Martijn Zwijnenburg
University College London

Biography
Martijn studied Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where he also did his PhD modelling zeolites and other siliceous materials. After postdoctoral fellowships at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in London and the University of Barcelona in Spain, he started his independent career in 2010 at the º£½ÇÉçÇø department of University College London (UCL) as an EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellow.
In 2012 he accepted a lectureship in the department and in 2016 was promoted to reader and in 2020 to professor. His research group at UCL focusses on predicting the optical and electronic properties of inorganic nanomaterials, conjugated polymers and organic self-assembled materials with a view to their application in renewable energy generation. Martijn also has interests in structure prediction and electronic structure methods and in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to problems in chemistry.
