The 39th Annual Postgraduate Symposium of the Heterocyclic and Synthesis Group will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in the University of Oxford’s Inorganic º£½ÇÉçÇø Laboratory building. The event will begin at 10:00 and end by 17:30. Lunch, along with coffee and tea, will be provided by the Heterocyclic and Synthesis Group. Attendance is free for all postgraduate students; however, registration is mandatory.
The symposium will feature plenary lectures from Dr Josie Gaynord and Dr EmÃlia Pécora de Barros (MSD) on 'The challenge of designing CNS-penetrant drugs: medicinal chemistry strategies and computational tools', as well as Professor Jonathan Burton (University of Oxford) on 'Oxonium Ions, Total Synthesis and Structure Determination'. Additionally, eight lectures will be presented by final-year postgraduate students, selected from submitted abstracts. There will also be a flash presentation session and a poster session during the lunch break, open to postgraduate students at any stage of their studies as well as other interested presenters. Prizes will be awarded for the best postgraduate lecture, flash presentation, and poster.
